Community Discovering What It Cares About

A few weeks ago I took over for Eric Heinz as the new editor of the G.E.S. Gazette. I’ve been honored to write for the G.E.S. Gazette since 2021 and for its sister paper, The Denver North Star, since 2019.

I’ve lived in North Denver since the early 1990s and have had kiddos in Denver Public Schools for 23 years. And for as long as I’ve lived in the area, I still consider myself a newcomer. It encourages curiosity and appreciation. I’d lived here over 20 years before I discovered the secret bridge that connects one side of Globeville to the other.

Say hello when you see me at the library or at a community meeting. Email your ideas, concerns and questions. A favorite author of mine, Margaret Wheatley, once wrote, “There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.”

I look forward to filling these pages with things that matter to you.

Kathryn
