The East Denver Food Sovereignty Initiative (EDFSI) recently hosted a talent competition at the Viña Apartments, where the initiative is looking to establish a small grocery store. Rappers, dancers and musicians from young children to adults graced the stage.
Additionally, various vendors and caterers were available throughout the afternoon, and a community breakfast was held prior to the event.
The winners of the event were Levi Hayward, 3, in the under-12 division, and Richard Vidal Aguirres won in the 13-18 division. The EDFSI plans to hold another gathering on Feb. 25, with a planned theme of soul food and an open mic. Check the Facebook page, East Denver Food Hub, for updated information.
