By Victor Romero
Hello, my name is Victor Romero, and I am the outreach library program associate LPA at the Valdez-Perry Branch Library in the Elyria neighborhood. We are located off the corner of East 47th Avenue and Vine Street at 4690 Vine St.
A service we offer that I would like to highlight is our adult craft days, which take place every second Wednesday of the month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and every third Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon. These crafts vary, from making friendship bracelets to decorating garden pots and making macrame plant hangers. Come join us for some fun!
I would like to share with you a book I enjoyed reading recently, “City of Ghosts” written by Victoria Schwab. Her intended audience ranges from children to adults in the fantasy and science-fiction genre.
Cassidy Blake’s parents are paranormal investigators and TV show presenters on this topic. On a chilly March day, Cassidy decides to go for a bike ride along the river. In an accident, Cassidy ends up having a near-death experience and gains the ability to see and speak to ghosts as well as interact beyond the veil.
Soon after the accident, her parents start hosting a TV show about the world’s most haunted places, and the family heads off to Edinburgh, Scotland. There, her power to interact with ghosts and go beyond the veil grows stronger, but so do the problems it carries.
Victor Romero is a library program associate at Valdez-Perry Library. When not reading or recommending books, you can find him working on his cars or cooking.
