Dear Globeville, Elyria and Swansea,
I am hoping this letter reaches you well. My name is Eric Heinz and I have recently taken over as the editor of The G.E.S. Gazette.
My hope is to learn much more about the Globeville and Elyria-Swansea communities over time, and I want to provide the most comprehensive coverage of the issues that affect you. From what I’ve seen over the course of the last year and a half in covering news in Denver, I understand these communities have a wealth of passionate residents who care deeply about their neighborhoods.
The GES neighborhoods have a lot going on right now, as many developments are coming to fruition. Many changes may be coming to the area with the development of Fox Park, the continuous construction of the National Western Center, and, finally, the area’s first coop grocery store coming very soon.
It would be foolhardy to think that, as a publication, we have all the answers to how the various issues your community faces should be solved, but I can promise you that, if you’ll give us the opportunity, I and the contributors who write for us will provide the most accurate and locally focused news that we can.
We also want to have more people who live in the community help contribute to the publication, as they have priceless institutional knowledge that is needed to publish the most pertinent news.
As a monthly neighborhood publication, we hope to elevate discussions of importance, but we also want to help promote community events and feature stories that make this community the unique and endearing one that it is.
If you have any tips for stories or want to discuss an issue, please feel free to contact me at eric@denvernorthstar.com.
Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to meeting and working with all of you.
